Middle School Principal Interviews

I am pleased to announce that on Tuesday January 19 I will be interviewing candidates for the interim principalship at the Middle School. I was very happy with the caliber of the people who applied and hope to make an announcement on a finalist the week of January 25. 

Coming Out of Remote:

We will return to a full hybrid model on Thursday the 21st. Thank you to everyone for your flexibility and understanding during this time. I also want to say a huge thank you to families for following our safety protocols; you have helped us stay open by following them. It is not always easy, but it works.


State Of The Schools

I have asked each of the Principals and Ms. Urquhart to present to families a State of the Schools report in early February. This will highlight what we have done to date and where we are going for the remainder of the school year. These presentations will be about one hour in length with the first 30 minutes being the presentation and the last 30 for questions from families. The following are the dates and times and Zoom links will be sent out shortly.

Student Learning Time

On January 19th the new requirements go into effect for student learning time. Below are some highlights of the new requirements and how this will impact students at DPS.

In a hybrid model as a district we must average 35 hours of live and/or synchronous instruction over a two week period. All students must have live contact with a teacher every day. Office hours do not count to meet this requirement. In order to meet this requirement on Wednesdays the high school will offer full synchronous instruction for the first half of the day. Students must log on and meet with teachers in order to be considered present in class. The high school will also adjust their schedule to make sure that every day every student has at least one live check in with a teacher. Mr. Romano will send out an update shortly. There will not be any changes at any of the other schools

Back to School Survey July 15, 2020

Greetings, Over the last few weeks we have been working on creating a Blueprint for returning back to school in September. The purpose of this survey is just for us to gather information to continue planning for a safe, smooth, and successful return to school. There are 4 areas that I would like to get feedback on from you; will your student return back to school in September for in-person learning, will your student return to school in a hybrid model, will your student take the bus to school, and pre-school tuition. Please note that your responses are not binding and may change as more information becomes available to us in the next few weeks. Newsletter Highlights Include: Update guidance from DESE Two proposed back to school models Town Hall Forum and Zoom Links Student Forum   Hello,   This week I hosted both staff and community forums. In these 4 zoom sessions I had over 200 participate, offer feedback, and have the ability to ask questions. I thank all of those that attended, asked questions, and sent me emails. Your voice matters and is being heard. Many of your suggestions and feedback have been discussed with our administrative team and we have modified some of our thinking and planning as a result of it.
