Back to School Survey July 15, 2020

Greetings,

Over the last few weeks we have been working on creating a Blueprint for returning back to school in September. The purpose of this survey is just for us to gather information to continue planning for a safe, smooth, and successful return to school. There are 4 areas that I would like to get feedback on from you; will your student return back to school in September for in-person learning, will your student return to school in a hybrid model, will your student take the bus to school, and pre-school tuition. Please note that your responses are not binding and may change as more information becomes available to us in the next few weeks. Please fill out one survey per student so that we can have accurate information. The link to the survey is attached below.

Thank you for your help with this.

Paul

  1. I would prefer them to be back in school, as long as everyone follows and obeys the guidelines that are put in place. Also, more frequent hand washing is very important! Definitely before lunch!

    1. I agree I would like the students in schools as well these guidelines are great and some parents like myself can not do the remote learning, with that not being an option many children including mine will greatly suffer.

  2. School or home schooling, I am concerned. I agree with the guidelines in place as far as wearing mask and social distancing. Although, I feel it is still unsettling. However being a single working parent and sole provider, homeschooling is not ideal even on a biweekly basis.I feel like I am not able to provide my child with adequate education.
    I am concerned either way.

  3. The questionnaire requires you to make a bus selection. Not all kids take the bus. That question should be optional.

  4. I would like to have more information about the online platform if we choose not to send our students back to school for in person classes. What will that look like?.

  5. I do not feel I can complete this survey without knowing the details of the plan proposed. We are 1.5 months away from the proposed opening of school. There should be a detailed plan for fully remote learning an a detailed plan for hybrid learning at this point. Until I see those I cannot tell you what my family is going to do. All families are going to have to adjust, but this information is vital to knowing just how much.

  7. I am very concerned that my child will become a petri dish for spreading the virus. Lets face it kids can absolutely get the virus especially if they are in school with the air and heat on and ventilating through the school. What happens if cases flare back up and so many teachers are sick that school can't continue. Not to mention we are watching it happen in other states as they open back up and people become more comfortable. Everyone keeps saying kids don't really get it but can carry it. So if a child gets it and brings it home to their Mom, Dad, Grandfather ect then what good would that be. I can't comfortably send my kid to school knowing the potential danger. I'm remote learning all the way until this is over. I can't see kids being able to follow strict protocols and wear masks all day in school comfortably. Most kids can't keep them on for very long. Its hard to breath in them to start, but for 8 hours sitting there breathing in your own carbon dioxide that can't be all around safe. I also can't see how one bus driver can control a bus of kids and make sure everything is being followed when they have to look forward and drive. I mean lets be honest some buses have 3 kids to a seat. I feel like its like attempting the impossible all around! This will case further spread and sick families through the community. We can't possibly trace everyone in the schools safety with the coronavirus outside of school. School will become a breading ground!

    1. I agree, remote learning is the sure way of keeping everyone safe. We all have to remember that schools are run by adults who could easily contract the virus. I would feel more comfortable sending my child to a classroom setting once there is a vaccine.

  8. I really want to send my son back into class. With that being said it is stressing me out deeply because I am worried about him being in school. I don't know if all the kids in school would be able to follow the protocols that were expected of them. I find it was hard enough for them to keep their germs to themselves before the pandemic let alone now. I know that children are low risk but that doesn't mean that they are not capable of passing the virus to adults with lower immune system like myself. I am ready to do more remote learning with my child until it is safe for him to return to school.

  9. I just received a email saying there is staff members that have been in contact with someone with the coronavirus. Can we all stop and think for a minute...this is happening before school even starts!!! What is to come when school starts if this is already happening???!!

    1. I was thinking the same thing. Does that mean the 2 people that had come in contact with the infected we're not wearing mask? This really makes me know for sure I am making the right decision to remote learning for my child.

    2. Well not everyone wears a mask. Some people aren't worried about the coronavirus and take little to no precautions. Plus who is to say that all the staff and teachers amongst one another are all wearing masks well at the school preparing. People get comfortable and remove the mask or remove it to eat and things can spread that way. Some mask aren't even good enough to filter out much if a person was coughing or sneezing behind it. Mask aren't the entire answer. People staying home is the answer. Some people are flat out asymptomatic and don't even know they have it as they spread it rapidly. The school can't possibly trace and confirm the location and people who teachers, staff , students, students families ect see or visit outside of school and how safe they are being. what happens if it does cause a outbreak and schools shut down unexpected. Full remote learning until a vaccine if not history will keep repeating itself. I also get single parents needing to work ect, but if school abruptly shuts down after a outbreak and your forced to be remote what good would this all be for.

    3. If school is shut down by an emergency, we can try to use leave at work or at least have a valid unemployment claim if they aren't understanding. If we are forced to go remote right off the bat, we'll lose our jobs for choosing to be part of a district that's choosing to do that.

  11. If we go all remote, teachers need to teach, none of this one hour a week zoom stuff. There is no reason, in this day and age, that teachers cant teach 100% of the lessons remotely. Its being done elsewhere and those districts are less stressed because they already inplemented a ‘worse case scenerio’ plan.

    2. I guess all we can do is prepare right....I mean school was already abruptly shut down because of covid. So its not the unthinkable to happen again.

  13. I say remote learning right now is the best option for my child until there is a vaccine, then I would be more than happy to send him back into a classroom. I just hope that school district would do what's best for everyone. I know it's impossible to satisfy each and every person. Whether parents decide to send their kids back to classrooms or not should be up to them and I hope they respect those decisions

    1. Maybe those who have little choice can send their kids, and those who have a bit of leeway can get an incentive to keep theirs home. There's got to be a way to do this wisely.

  14. It says the survey is no longer accepting responses? Was there a time limit for it?
