Superintendent's Weekly Update, July 12, 2020
Hello,
I would like to share out some important information and dates with you for the upcoming week. I hope everyone had the chance to enjoy the weekend; what was supposed to be a washout turned into a wonderful weekend.
With the help of Donna Sousa, we have set up a District Wide Google Calendar. This is on the District’s web page under the parent page tab and then click on the integrated district wide calendar. Principals will populate information and dates here and it will be a live document. I hope this makes it easier for people to see what is going on in the district for events on a weekly basis.
Last Wednesday night we held our first Re-Opening Task Force meeting. In addition to administration we had over 15 teachers and 6 community members offer feedback and input into the Blueprint to reopen schools. I am in the process of taking the feedback from that meeting, in addition to some new information that has come out over the last few days from DESE, and updating the Blueprint.
On Monday July 13, I will host a forum for Douglas Public School staff only to go over the initial plan, guidance from DESE, and review the three proposed models for each of the four schools. On Tuesday July 14, I will host the same presentation for community members. These community meetings will be held via Zoom at 11AM and again at 7PM. Both meetings will be identical with about a 40 minute presentation followed by 20 minutes for questions. It is very important to remember that what is presented this week is not final. This is an extremely fluid plan that will change several times over the next few weeks as we get updated and new information.
